As communities rebuild, federal and state agencies host event to help East TN farmers recover after Hurricane Helene [Video]

There are opportunities through Dec. 12 for farmers to find resources to recover from Hurricane Helene.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — In Greene County, people are rebuilding months after Hurricane Helene brought devastating flooding to East Tennessee. Farmers can now ask for help for their homes, farmland and businesses.

Jeff Cagle, the owner of Mountain View Shooting Reserve in Del Rio, said it has been rough since the storm. He said after Hurricane Helene washed away a major part of Interstate 40, his business has seen a drop.

“The aftermath’s what’s really hurting us as far as our livelihood is because of the interstates being shut down. I-40, I-26, People can’t get here easily,” said Cagle. “December, January, it’s pretty, pretty popular at this time of year. A lot of people come for Christmas presents. They send their husbands and kids on hunts and stuff like that.”
