MIDLAND, Mich. (WJRT) – The weather outside isn’t frightful yet, Midland is getting ready with decorative artwork on storefronts through the downtown area.
Ann Arbor-based artists Brush Monkeys are working in downtown Midland to help get the area in the holiday spirit with the help of paint brushes. Storefronts are being decorated with snowy scenes with the goal of promoting small businesses.
“Lots of little landscapes. Little old snowy trees, and little animals poking around for food on the tundra. You know, the icy landscape,” said artist Narooz Soliman of Brush Monkeys. “It’s kind of an exaggeration. It’s the winter we all want, but don’t have anymore.”
Residents are encouraged to stop by their favorite stores for some holiday shopping and get a photo with the wintry scenes in the background.
Art will decorate nearly 30 businesses in the downtown area. The artists expect to continue working through Saturday.
