Applications open for Kansas City businesses hit by recent vandalism, crime [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A month ago, nearly 200 businesses expressed interest in a city fund to help them recover damages and enhance security measures.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas announced on Tuesday morning that the city’s Back to Business Fund Program was accepting applications.

The grant program has two parts: recovery and prevention.

Storefronts eligible must be located in Kansas City, Missouri, maintain consistent hours of operation, and have sustained physical damage due to a break-in or vandalism or plan to take steps to prevent incidents like these.

• The recovery grant is for up to $3,000 per business for reimbursement for vandalism from July 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025.
• The prevention grant is for up to $5,000 per business to reimburse them for eligible security measures from July 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025.
