Appleton city officials ask for public input for A NEW Avenue [Video]

APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – Appleton city officials and the new West College Avenue Coalition are asking for your opinions to help improve W. College Ave.

They’re calling the project “A NEW Avenue” and the area in question is the stretch between Mall Dr. and Richmond St. and its immediate surroundings. It’s a multi-year project with the goal of improving local projects and businesses with better traffic flow.

Some of the challenges include a scarcity of sidewalks and bicycle paths and safety risks during construction.

They’re on phase one of three, and you can make a difference now by offering input in an online survey. You can also find it on the City of Appleton’s Facebook page.

Outagamie County recently secured a grant of $130,000 to develop a vision for West College Avenue. This grant funds phase one, but also allowed a team of the coalition to travel to Atlanta to study the problem along with 15 communities that also have tricky transportation infrastructure.
