Americans Say Its Easier To Keep Their Jobs This Year But Income and Debt Are Big Worries [Video]

Americans are more optimistic about the job market and their ability to keep their jobs this year even as worries over household income and debt loom, a survey from the New York Federal Reserve showed. 

“Perceptions about households’ current financial situations improved, with fewer respondents reporting being worse off and more respondents reporting being better off than a year ago,” the survey said.

Fewer Americans anticipated a rise in the unemployment rate in December, while the perceived probability of losing their job or voluntarily leaving their position also declined, the bank’s December survey showed.

Those with some college education and respondents with household incomes below $50,000 showed the biggest jump in labor market confidence, which comes as the unemployment rate unexpectedly ticked lower in December
