ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Some stuffed animals in the Mat-Su were getting the treatment they needed Sunday at “Teddy Bear Care.”
Inside Spunky Monkey in Wasilla, local kids brought their teddy bears and other stuffed toys to consult with a real veterinarian.
Veterinarian Dr. Jen Donaldson moved to Alaska after selling her animal hospital in Texas, where she originally conceptualized a teddy bear care event. Donaldson said since moving to Alaska she’s redirected her life toward volunteering, and has hosted multiple teddy bear care events inside local businesses.
“I get to enjoy the company of small businesses here like Spunky Monkey, where we can connect and come together. We’re bringing kids together in a small business environment,” Donaldson said.
Some of the children at the event Sunday brought their own stuffed animals to receive a lesson in proper care for their toys, and living pets too.
