Advocate warns of human trafficking: ‘Large events like the RNC are perfect for trafficking’ [Video]

The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee means security perimeters, parking restrictions and an influx of about 50,000 people. It could also mean more cases of human trafficking. “Large events like the RNC, DNC, even fairs and carnivals, large sporting events, those events are perfect for trafficking,” said Kimberly Voss, The LIFE Initiative founder. “It’s supply and demand, and when you have a large event like that, the demand is through the roof, unfortunately.”Advocates like Voss are trying to make more people aware of human trafficking, whether it’s labor or sex. Voss’ organization focuses on combatting human trafficking and helping victims recover. She says human trafficking is a sophisticated operation.
