Abilene FD crews work fast to contain fire to home’s attic [Video]

Abilene Fire crews were able to keep the flames contained to the home’s attic.

ABILENE, Texas — An electrical fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damages to an Abilene home Thursday morning.

Abilene Fire Department crews responded to a residential structure fire call at approximately 10:15 a.m.  Thursday in the 400 block of Poplar Street.

Crews reported a light haze coming from the home and went in to investigate. Engine 1 crews reported active fire in the attic space and redesignated themselves.

At that time, command initiated a working fire. A quick attack was made on the fire, containing it to the attic space.

The fire was determined to be electrical in nature.

All occupants were outside the home when the crews arrived. No injuries were reported at the scene and the American Red Cross was called to help the residents.

Severe weather damages homes, power lines in Alabama [Video]

NWS plans to survey at least two other sites in Shelby and St. Clair counties Monday.
