RAPID CITY, S.D. – Thursday, August 22 marked the first day of move-in for new students at South Dakota Mines.
While excited, some students are nervous about leaving home. Nevertheless, the school has fostered a strong welcoming environment with many resources both new and old to help students navigate their first year.
“So our new students, they’re going to be able to fully utilize the Devereaux Library,” said Dr. Joe Dlugos, Dean of Students at South Dakota Mines. “A lot of our student success resources are in that space. If they’re looking for internships, help with tutoring or time management skills, that’s all located in that space.
“They’re also noticing the construction wrapping up on our new Nucor Mineral Industries building. Classes are going to be able to start there later this fall and they’re going to be able to use that brand new facility generously donated by Nucor.”
