CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Residents voiced their concerns at the Hyde Park Neighborhood Council meeting on Tuesday about the potential redevelopment of Hyde Park Square.
The development has been controversial for Hyde Park residents. Some say the project would bring a lot of support for the small businesses.,
“Putting this development in is going to provide more opportunity for the businesses and make sure our restaurants thrive,” says Hyde Park resident Mark Godsey.
Others don’t believe there’s a need for more apartments and don’t want the historic feeling to change.
“I think the integrity, the history of this square would be greatly missed,” Hyde Park resident Carol Rudy tells FOX19 NOW. “I just can’t imagine how many more people are going to want to live in a high rise. This isn’t a big city like Chicago. I don’t know in Cincinnati that it’s warranted in this area.”
