SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Jefferson and Shelby County are under a no-burn advisory due to air quality issues.
The advisory was issued by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management and is set to expire at the end of October.
Montevallo firefighters say when conditions are dry like this, it’s important to be cautious if you are burning outside because of how quickly a brush fire can get started and spread.
Although recreational fires are allowed during this time, Montevallo Fire says burning outdoors is a bad idea right now.
“It’s getting cooler outside and people are wanting to have their holiday parties and their bonfires and make their smores but smokey bear said it, if it’s too hot to touch it’s too hot to leave,” Captain David King says.
