Grant opens to help Kansas City businesses hit by property crime [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After a wave of break-ins and burglaries at businesses across the metro, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas announced that a new recovery and prevention program for small business owners impacted by property crime has officially opened.

According to a news release, the Back to Business Fund, which passed during a City Council meeting in September and was allocated $325,000 from the Violence Prevention and Intervention Fund, will offer financial assistance to local businesses to help owners recover from damage, enhance security and prevent future crimes.

Almost 200 local business owners completed interest forms for the program last month. These forms were then used to determine eligibility and make the grant program as inclusive as possible.
