The Lee County Commission reduced the scope of the phase 2 broadband expansion projects in three areas of Lee County.
On Monday, the Lee County Commission voted unanimously to reduce the scope of the phase two broadband expansion grant projects in the Southeast, South Central and East areas. According to County Administrator Holly Leverette, the reductions were due to concerns her team had about possible rights of way vacated roads, and the inefficiencies that could be presented by the current routes.
In June, the commission voted to award the phase two broadband expansion grants all to R.M. Greene Inc., doing business as BEAM, at a total of $2.9 million. The commission award grants for a project in the Southeast area, the South Central area and a combined project that covered the East Central and Northeast areas.
