KC Pet Project rescues 31 animals from Kansas City home [Video]

Officials with KC Pet Project say 31 animals have been rescued from “inhumane” and “deplorable” conditions at a property in the Historic Northeast neighborhood of Kansas City. The Animal Services Division pulled eight ducks, six roosters, eight hens, eight cats, and one pigeon from a property after responding to complaints from neighbors about potential neglect.Officers found the property littered with trash, animal carcasses, and dead birds. The living animals on site were found with inadequate housing, no access to water, no ventilation, and obvious signs of neglect.”These circumstances are not only inhumane but also in violation of the city code,” KC Pet Project officials said in a post on Facebook. The property owner made the decision to surrender the animals to KCPP. Animal services will be issuing citations to the owner for multiple violations including failure to provide adequate care.
