How much rain fell in Connecticut [Video]

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Parts of Connecticut experienced historic flooding Sunday, with some areas receiving over ten inches of rain.

Roads were washed out, homes and businesses damaged, and even people had to be rescued from the flood waters in their cars. At least one person in Oxford has died after being swept away by floodwaters near Little River.

These kinds of floods are referred to as one-in-1,000-year floods. This does not mean it happens once every 1,000 years. It means a flood like this has a 0.1% chance of happening in any given year.
