‘We’re going to miss this place,’ diners cry as chain with dozens of locations to exit state for good after 33 years [Video]

A POPULAR restaurant chain has announced the closure of one its Ohio stores after 33 years of business.

The locations will close in a matter of weeks and will be put up for sale in an online auction.

Shoney’s serves classic American-style food and was first founded in 1947.

Its store in Dover, Ohio – just under a two hour drive from Columbus – will soon cease to exist.

The Dover restaurant has 25 employees – some have been there since the chain first opened, according to the store manager, Mike Watson.

“It’s been a pretty good place,” he told the Times-Reporter.

Watson has worked at Shoney’s for over 18 years.

Nick Hussein, the owner of the Dover Shoney’s, has decided to scale back the number of restaurants he owns, according to Watson.
