Midwest UPS workers help veterans in the Black Hills [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Usually when a UPS driver arrives, it’s with a package in hand, but today, employees spent a little longer at one home.

UPS workers from across the Midwest are giving back to veterans this week. Virgil Whetsel got landscaping help at his home in Rapid City.

The company says they are dedicated to volunteer work and have set a goal to achieve 30 million hours of community service by 2030. As of right now, they already have about 26 million hours company-wide.

Whetsel was drafted into the army in 1970 and served in Vietnam. He’s been living in his home in Rapid City since 2004. He said he hasn’t been able to keep up with the yard work like he used to.
