Big Lots to close more than 140 stores: Heres the full list [Video]

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Discount retailer Big Lots announced last month it would close 35 to 40 stores after struggling in a “challenging consumer environment.” But the company is now upping that number, announcing on its website it will soon shutter more than 140 locations.

“Based on our current cash and liquidity projections, and uncertainties with respect to the mitigating effect of management’s plans, the Company has concluded there is a significant likelihood that it will be unable to comply with the Excess Availability Covenant under the 2022 Credit Agreement and the Term Loan Facility within the next 12 months, which raises substantial doubt about the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern,” the company said in a June SEC filing.

The Ohio-based company currently lists a total of 1,389 stores on its website, and as of Wednesday, 143 of those stores were marked as “closing.” California, Arizona and Washington accounted for more than half …
