New class prepares Lincoln County students for the workforce [Video]

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Students in Lincoln County are back in the classroom Thursday.

A new class offered to high schoolers will help prepare them for the real world. The Entrepreneurship Class teach will teach skills like time management and working with others.

While the class focuses on academics, it will also help prepare them for the workforce.One of the big ways to do that is by teaching what are called ‘soft skills’.

“Being on time, time management, being able to work with other people, why you cannot use your cellphone at work. Those things we want to be able to teach our kids while we have them captive every day,” said Dr. Howie Gunby, Superintendent, Lincoln County School District.

The class will also use items made in the agriculture, welding and construction classes.
