Champlain Parkway Project leaders hold open house ahead of their final phase [Video]

The final phase of the Champlain Parkway Project is soon to get underway.The Maple and King neighborhoods in Burlington will see the most impact from it.This has been a project that’s been stop-and-go and many decades in the making. However, now major progress is being made.The 2.8-mile project will connect I-189 to the city’s south end.It’s designed to alleviate neighborhood traffic.It will also transform the existing road into a two-lane road — with lanes for cars, bikes, and pedestrians.The initial phase, which will be completed this fall, focuses on making upgrades from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue as well as certain sections of Pine Street.The last phase is about improving the roadway between Kilburn Street and Main Street.Wednesday night, project leaders held an open house at the King Street Center to answer any community members’ questions.Lori Lewis has lived on Maple Street for more than 25 years.She has some concerns …
