Michigan QB battle wide open as preseason camp gets underway [Video]

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — When it comes to quarterback, Michigan football plans to open preseason camp this week the same way it began spring practice.

From oldest to youngest.

Jack Tuttle will start the first practice Wednesday taking snaps with the first-team, followed by former walk-on Davis Warren, then juniors Alex Orji and Jayden Denegal, followed by true-freshman Jadyn Davis.

Only Orji, Tuttle and Warren are though to be in contention for the starting job come Aug. 31 against Fresno State (7:30 p.m., NBC), but the quarterback battle remains alive and well, offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell told reporters on Tuesday.

“That’s a fluid operation,” Campbell, who doubles as the team’s quarterbacks coach, said. “That will change daily. We’ll make sure everyone gets the opportunity to run with the ones and we’ll evaluate it on a day-by-day basis.”
