KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — A pair of Portage Republicans are facing off in the Tuesday, Aug. 6 primary for a chance to face Democratic incumbent Meredith Place in the race for county clerk/register of deeds.
Republicans Kathleen Olmsted and Emily Crawford both hope to have a chance to unseat Place in the Nov. 5 general election, but first must face one another in the primary election.
Olmsted, 57, is self-employed, according to bio information provided to the League of Women Voters. She has a bachelor’s from Western Michigan University and has spent 25 years in mortgage servicing and management, nonprofit board leadership and is a business owner.
