GRESHAM, Ore. (KPTV) – The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an explosion that happened near a home in Gresham early Thursday morning.

At about 3:40 a.m., deputies responded to a report of an explosion in the 7000 block of Southeast Pleasant Home Road. Deputies learned a homemade explosion device had gone off in or on a trash can near the road and a piece of the device hit an occupied house, causing minor damage.

Based on the location of the trash can and home, the sheriff’s office says it is believed the shrapnel traveled a few hundred feet.

The explosion did not cause a fire, according to the sheriff’s office. No injuries were reported.
