WeGo planning to turn Donelson Station into Donelson Transit Center [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Donelson Station will soon transform into the Donelson Transit Center.

The Federal Transit Administration (FAA) is sending $10 million to the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee — also known as WeGo Public Transit — as part of the bipartisan $1.5 billion infrastructure law funding projects across the U.S.

According to WeGo, the funds come from the 2024 Buses and Bus Facilities Competitive Program that is part of the infrastructure law. Some of the elements of the project include an upgraded transfer facility, multiple bus bays, employee break and restroom facilities, and waiting areas.

“This is $10 million of a project that will take between $24-$34 million to complete,” WeGo’s public information officer, Eric Melcher, said.

Among the many upgrades is a focus on public safety. WeGo is investing an additional $1 million to ensure rider safety.
