How much salaries SHOULD have grown in Ireland over the last 5 years [Video]

New research from jobs website Indeed and the Central Bank of Ireland has shown how much salaries in Ireland have grown over the last 12 months.

Wages in Ireland increased 4.3% in the 12 months to June, a higher rate than the pre-pandemic average (2.5%) but below the August 2022 peak of 6.4%.

The figure also represents a slight increase from the start of the year when annual wage growth was measured at 4-4.1%

Pawel Adrjan, economist an Indeed, said the decline over the past two years was reflected in most large euro-area countries as inflation and job postings have fallen, alleviating pressure on the labour market.

“The fact that wage growth remains above its pre-pandemic norms is a concern for some ECB policymakers, as they worry that high wage growth across the euro area may drive continued persistence in inflation in the service sector, where labour accounts for a high share of firms’ costs,” he continued.
