Virgin Media Television has appointed serving executive producer Ruari Carroll as its new head of news.
Carroll has formerly held news anchor and reporter roles with the broadcaster, and will report directly to Mick McCaffrey, Virgin Media Television’s director of news and sports.
As head of news, Carroll will have responsibility for the newsroom, its three daily bulletins at 12.30, 5.30 and 7.00 pm, as well as current affairs outputs such as The Tonight Show, The Group Chat and Virgin Media Television’s online platforms.
Carroll said that he was “really excited” to take on the new role, adding: “It’s an honour to lead the outstanding team we have in the Virgin Media newsroom.
“Live news and current affairs is hugely important to our audience especially with a general election on the way.”
